The Hampshire Association of Local Councils Ltd (the ALC) is an independent third sector membership organisation and not for profit company limited by guarantee. The Hampshire Association of Local Councils , serves and represents the interests of parish, town and local councils across Hampshire.
- TheALC was founded in 1948 when local government reforms began after the Second World War. For more than sixty years now,the ALC has provided advice, representation, networking, services and support to member councils and parish meetings, assisted by its primary partner Hampshire County Council.
- The ALC is based in Chandler's Ford and has four employee posts (and a Company Secretary in addition). The Chief Executive and Executive Officer are full time posts, whereas the Member Support Officer and Business Support Officer are part time positions; current staffing levels run to around 131.5 hours a week. The ALC is the lead body for the Local Council Development Team, chaired by the Lead Member for Development, currently Cllr Mike Evans of Whiteley PC.
- There are currently 261 parish and town councils across Hampshire, including 21 parish meetings. A total of 242 are currently in membership representing 600,000 residents across Hampshire. We are also delighted to welcome affiliates (currently two) and training partners (currently two)who wish to access our information and development provision.
