Q: Does our Parish Council have any planning powers?

A: No - a parish council is a statutory consultee, that is they must be notified of all planning applications within the parish. This is so that they may comment on the application.

A Parish Council is not a planning authority and has no special powers. They may comment or not they cannot approve or reject planning applications.

A Parish council is responsible for the production of the neighbourhood plan. This is NOT the same as a parish plan or village design statement.
