Q: Some councillors want to vote the parish clerk off the parish council can they do this?

A: No the parish clerk is not elected they are the proper officer of the Parish Council. The parish clerk is an employee of the parish council. If such a question were asked during a parish council meeting this could be construed as bullying and harassment. The parish council could be laying itself open to claims for unfair dismissal and exposing itself and its residents to significant expense.

Should there be issues with the clerk's performance these should be dealt with the parish councils H.R. Committee.
