Q: What is a Parish Council Precept or tax?

A: The Parish Council precept is a tax charged on each property in your parish. It is used to fund all the activities that your parish council undertakes for the benefit of your community. The precept is collected on behalf of your parish council by the principal authority i.e the district council, county council or unitary authority.
