Last month say the second largest month on month increase in searches relating to town and parish councils. These searches relate to complaints...

  • About town and parish councillors
  • About town and parish clerks
  • About town and parish councils themselves
  • About the lack of any response to a complaint

Worryingly the largest but most consistent complaint searches are about the town or parish council itself (43%). Why there should be such a rise now is uncertain as there was no such spike for the same period last year.

Checking our logs it is also interesting that neither DCLG (Department for Communities and Local Government) nor NALC (National Association of Local Councils) have ever viewed any of the complaints statistics despite being visitors to the CPALC (Communities, Parish and Local Councils) website.

Perhaps neither organisation wishes its rose tinted view of local democracy to be influence by real information?
