The Yaxley Parish Council Annual Report contains an interesting statement...

“This applicant could be co-opted on to the council unless 10 parishioners request an election. I can inform you that as expected 10 parishioners have written to Huntingdon District Council and requested and election. This means that applications for the vacant position will face an election. If there is more than one candidate the cost of this election will be in excess of £7,000 and this cost will have to be taken out of public funds, in other words your Council Tax”

Does it really cost £7000.00 to hold a parish council election in Huntingdonshire?

Why if it costs £7000.00 do residents feel the need to use their democratic right of calling an election?

Why did Yaxley Parish Council not call an election?
