The draft statutory instrument Openness of Local Government Bodies Regulations 2014 has been approved by Parliament. It is proposed that they will be approved on the 5th August and will become law on the 6th August.

These allow the public to film meetings of councils, committees and sub committees. In addition there will be new requirements to record where any decision making powers are delegated to council officers. This new decision record must be available for inspection.

A summary of the draft plain English guide is available on this site.
